Just A Sunday Post #89

What the hell is this?

How do you do sell an torn and restored card effect where the restored card cannot be handed out? This is the fucking point of any Torn and Restored routine. But I forgot that Theory 11 put that out. If it would be practical it would be called Practical 11.

My bad, carry on!

This is so, so, so bad.

Yeah I was moderately curious until the end there.
Not interesting in a Torn, Restored & Torn Card.

Didn't Ben Harris have something similiar out called Hoodwink?

Yes Ben Harris put out Hoodwink. It was actually sort of practical. But even Ben Harris was unhappy with the fact that he couldn't hand out the card, so he devised Wink Wink where if done correctly both of the signed torn and restored cards could be handed out.

What do you mean "what the hell is this?"

Its obvious what it is, its another child with his shitty disposable one off trick being used to con other children into THE NEXT BIG THING YOU GOTTA HAVE TO BE ABLE TO CALL YOURSELF A MAN !!!!

Still it beats the bending coin trick which was touted by one on-line firm and was essentially a sh888 made from tin foil.

I know this makes me sound old but this REALLY isn't new - i was taught this by one of the oldies at the local magic club almost 20 years ago

Yes it's a follow up to Hoodwink, and Ben Harris has given it his blessing.

Ben Harris really let this onto the scene? If I were him, I would've vetoed it straight away.

If I remember correctly, we have had another release like this in the past... ReinCARDnation by Kris Nevling... Although he did follow up his release with a version where you can hand the card out at the end.
Anyway, I agree that it is not a big fooler.

Maybe Kenner's new employee / Theory11 needs money, desperately to maintain their business, who knows.

Interest post by the way, from now on any effect cannot acheive what its called still can put out into the market.

This case, we have a ultimate 'Torn and restored card' with a torn card without restore it in the end.

I saw right thru this. I showed my wife, and she saw right thru it too. I showed my mom and her friend and they both could figure it out. I showed some non magi friends the clip...they too were not impressed.

I can say that "we're all magicians and we can see things that Laymen can't" but when I ask a bunch of laymen and they can correctly figure out the workings....

I say it's crap! But it will be purchased by those who think it's worth something and sadly, there is a market out there for shit like this!

Very sad...

Hehe, yeah, I showed my girlfriend and she actually laughed at it.

This was Ben Harris' comment

"Fascinating to see "Hoodwink" taken in this direction.

It's the exact OPPOSITE of the original intent. "Hoodwink" was originally engineered as a quick "torn in HALF" and then restored--being able to throw the restored card to the table at the end. It was designed ALMOST as a throw-away with a flash restoration that came out of no where! BOOM!

However, I applaud the effort and support the product.

The tearing of the card into four pieces (to clean up) was published in Quarks & Quirks (2000). As is a version where you REPEAT the effect with a genuine restoration of the signed card (examinable) at he end."

I had to laugh out loud when seeing this. Does he laypeople are idiots or what? What weak routine this is. The method is poor and repeated 3 times.
