Tom Mullica

It is April. In celebration of this blogs two year existence, the whole month will be winner time. Only the coolest and best members of our elite circle of nerds will be featured.

Today: Tom Mullica!

Magicians are nerds. Most of them are. Insecure and shy. Hiding behind secrets and ugly props. To me it seems that Tom has taken this to a higher extreme. His whole look and act feels like some übernerd trying to entertain. And it works. Once you take that prototypical image of a magician to an extreme it becomes unbelievable.

And then you see the genius behind the man.

He is mostly known in the magic world for his cigarette act, which is gross and therefore interesting (he quit doing that some time ago). But he does more of that geeky stuff.

Remember that? "Magic for Dummies", yes! But it is so well done, it does fool people. I love Tom Mullica. While he certainly doesn't make magic look cool, he certainly makes magic look interesting.

Tom's interview fairly recently with Dodd was great. Lots of interesting history. I was inspired by his attitude on the show when even talking about the cancer.
