if Rich Manly can't act naturally when he is just being himself, why would anyone think be convincing when he is trying to be someone else? Nice use of the girl to pander to the 14 year olds. Heck if she has a crush on Rob who is a magician, maybe if I give money she might have a crush on men too! I must tip my hat to the fair representation from a magicians perspective. With technology increasing exponentially, at least magicians will be performing the same kind of acts with the same ego centric watch me style as they have for the last 100 plus years.
I've seen youtube clips with more style and better presentation then this... that were free on the internet. Watch a lightsaber fight... most of them are pretty good, and much better then this mofo with a sword...
Personally, I think this is a silly project. While it certainly strokes the egos of all those involved (from the blurb: "The Magic in this show will be performed by real magicians who will act and showcase their tremendous skills in this exciting story of a magician who discovers a hidden power. We pay homage to them."), the fact is that this is nothing more the next money making operation from the Bucks - these guys are a cash generating juggernaut.
Their last project (which has yet to be produced) is "Our Magic" ("A new documentary revealing the secret world of magic & magicians as told by the finest thinkers, creators and performers of the art."). That was also a Kickstarter project, originally asking for $43,000.00 and ultimately pulling in $62,593.00 ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dananddave/our-magic/ ).
As far as I'm concerned, Dan & Dave Buck are the 21st century's answer to snake oil salesmen.
I knew cockroaches would survive a nuclear apocalypse, and maybe it was asking too much that 'cardistes' would number among the casualties, but what I really want to know is: Why do Dan and Dave never seem to blink?
It's about time. Instead of pre-selling tricks without demos and screwing us $25 bucks at a time, here's a chance where I can dump a hundred or a thousand dollars based on promises and my trustworthy nature.
"Here's a big pile of money, so get out there and make a movie - even though you have no expertise or experience in that branch of entertainment."
Yeah, how could that possibly go wrong?
Best policy? Hold off and wait until the unbiased reviews come in. Probably some time in 2017, after a long series of more begging, missed deadlines and deleted complaints on the Cafe.
