Video Rant - Hair Tie Coloration

  1. So why doesn't he do a rubber band anthology? Because that would take more time and effort and it would cost more money to do so. As a result, it would cost more as a DVD. Fewer people would buy it because it's just a rehash of already marketed material and the cost of the DVD.

As a download it is quick and easy money. A lot of people will part with $7.00 and the cost of this is minimal since you don't need it on DVD or printed page - you just let them download the file.

It's not about magic or art or anything other than turning a quick buck. Bottom line.

  2. Some of of these effects mentioned in the video are on a download from T11. I love how people take old effects and then sell them as something new with their name on it

  3. Rubberbands are not nice props to use.

  4. You are spot on about this one...

First off, it is a TERRIBLE trick. Anyone with the tiniest bit of logic will be able to figure this out instantly. That is why Bobo thought of this as a simple puzzle, not a freakin' magic trick.

Next, the exact handling is taught on the COVER of a $3 book. You do not even have to buy the book to figure this out. (Not that you would need instructions in the first place.)

Lastly, it is clear that this is a case of name dropping. Do you really need to thank them in the description? Probably not, unless their name is more reputable than yours, according to Rick.

I would not be surprised if Rick marketed this as a DVD with props in the near future for $25. He's on that path...

I'd much rather throw my $7 away than support this.

    1. Like his soul paper effect where he takes a "life hack" paper rocket and sells it for $10. Makes me want to go through my old boy scout handbook and see what I can market out of there.

  6. Now you all know where the word "Laxative" comes from...

(RE: Soul Paper - completely agree with you Matthew - and what an appalling plot... does a spectator - any spectator - really want to have the name and memory of a dead friend or relative sucked up a tube into Lax's mouth and used for a corny revelation?)
