Sometimes I think that maybe people take my blog a little too serious. For heaven's sake. It's called WEEKLY Magic Failure. It was supposed to be a little mention on what went wrong in magic this week. Nothing more. But some of the winners carry the virtual award that I hand out a little too long. Just note that you won. Disagree with me and go on with your life. Some people don't get it.
Maybe the term failure is a little too much. So I'm seriously considering a name change of my blog. How about: "Flavor of the Week" or "Aftertaste of Magic" What do you guys think?
How about [ Magic "Star" of the week]?? Double meaning at there =)
ReplyDelete"Dickhole of the Week"
ReplyDeleteI actually had no idea this blog existed until a friend of mine from England stayed at my place for a few days last year. Since then, I've been a follower of this blog, checking it on a daily basis (and I don't really waste a lot of time on blogs). Honeslty, I think you should keep the name as is.
ReplyDeleteQuote of the week: "Kudos to Steven"
ReplyDeleteEnough for a failure if you ask me...
You've given your blog a name and now people look for it by that name. If you change it now, that all goes out of the window (including a large part of your regular readers).
ReplyDeleteI'll paraphrase from what you said: "Just note that you have a reputation. Disagree with me and go on with your life. Some people don't get it."
I'm sorry, but I'm so overcome with admiration for SEY and his bravery and honesty, that I can't deal with minutia like this at the moment. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe title was MY idea, Roland, and you betta stick with it, OR ELSE!
ReplyDeleteBS
keep it
ReplyDeleteYou could rename it to: SEY - Sleazy Escamoteurs Yabbering. Well, catchy perhaps, but maybe too contrived. I like WMF.
ReplyDeleteWeekly Magic Failure is fine. If people take it too seriously then that's their problem. Just look at the fail blog, which basically defined the term on the internet...
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, this blog (along with Andrew's and Mule's) provide something of value to the art. Criticism is crucial. It's positive you question whether it's too much. I don't think it is, and i doubt the blog has damaged anyone, despite the whining. It's pretty clear what it takes to merit a failure badge. Those who have won it, have deserved it. It's their actions under their control, after all. The sad thing for Magic is that they fail to see that, and that is the biggest failure, as I see it.
ReplyDelete"I'm so overcome with admiration for SEY and his bravery and honesty, that I can't deal with minutia like this at the moment."
ReplyDeleteYep, takes bravery to hide behind a fake name and try to spread malicious pedophile lies about people who work with children. I suppose it also takes great honesty to admit what you did after you are caught out doing it and denying it would be futile (or if you think that because other people played you and made you think you'd been conclusively busted)
Or maybe you were referring to his apology that wasn't really an apology, you know, the one where he said he didn't really regret it and would do most of it again.
Or maybe you are referring to his mental health and medication post that was so sincere and heart felt that he actually titled it " Welcome To Magic Blowhards" (he has since changed it).
Maybe we should start excusing crimes based on people being on antidepressants, but considering the number of people on these things that manage not go around accusing people of what is oft considered one of the worst crimes in modern western society, maybe it's not the illness but the person.
IMHO, before all this I thought he was a regular Magic Failure, now I consider him a failure as a decent and civilized person. I'm sure his sycophantic fans and "friends" will all rush to excuse him tho', after all, he's been so brave and honest.
I've stayed out of the whole sordid episode until now, but hearing someone applaud SEY for bravery and honesty is just too much.
I think my sarcasm detection was set a bit low today.
ReplyDeleteJust been trawling through some old posts here and found some comments by IM that make me think his comment was not meant the way I perceived it. If so sorry to IM, but not about my attitude ;)
IM, I used to read your blog ages ago and just went to find it again and got a trojan warning on the page www.intenselymagic.com/ (don't visit without AV software)
Trickster,
DeleteYou are right, Trickster. Your sarcasm antenna must have been way down. Actually if you look back on my blog I was on Youelle's case long, long before it was popular. I have both personal and professional reasons for my total disdain.
Actually, I read a thread on the Genii board that just made me barf. Not only was that asshole mrgoat involved, but so was, Tom Fucking Frame and some other pansies expressing their total admiration for Youell coming out of the closet, so to speak. (You think covering his ass due to a potential lawsuit might have had a little to do with his bravery?)
It was disgusting.
On the blog showing a malware problem, there was an issue last week where we had a minor attack and a couple of JavaScript items could have possibly compromised a viewer. That has all been cleaned and I have had my host check it twice since. Everything is okay. Unfortunately, the marriage of Bing and Yahoo takes four weeks, four fucking weeks to possibly remove the warning. I can contact them after that and ask them again. Morons!
The way blogger works I can't seem to sign on with my current address. It is:
http://www.intenselymagic.com
I've been a little lame and keeping it up-to-date, but starting this weekend I hope to dramatically increase my post frequency. There's too much to talk about for me to keep quiet.
Take care....
Alright, the name stays!
ReplyDeleteWeekly Magic Retard / Losers in my opinion
ReplyDeleteGood. It rolls off the tongue so nicely.
